Travel pay policy overview

Eligibility: All members of Roofers and Waterproofers Local 44 who travel to jobsites outside their regular working area are eligible for travel pay. This policy applies to all classifications, including journeymen, apprentices, helper/trainees and applicants.

Travel Pay Rates

Within Regular Working Area:

No travel pay is provided for work within your designated regular working area.

Outside Regular Working Area:

  • Zone 1: (0 to 35 Miles) No travel pay.
  • Zone 2: (36 to 44 Miles) $17.50 per day.
  • Zone 3: (45 to 59 Miles) $21.50 per day.
  • Zone 4: (60 to 80 Miles) $24.50 per day.
  • Zone 5: (Over 80 Miles) $85.00 per day.

Travel pay is calculated based on the distance from the center point of the county your contractor is located in to the jobsite. The following addresses are used as reference points for travel pay calculations:

Special provisions

multiple jobsites

If you are moved from one jobsite to another during the workday, travel time between sites is compensated at your regular hourly rate.

Emergency Work

For emergency work (e.g., fire, storm damage) outside regular hours, travel time is compensated at the applicable overtime rate.

Parking Reimbursement

When you must pay for parking at a jobsite, you will be reimbursed up to $20 per day upon providing a receipt.

Bona Fide Employers

For employers based outside the Local 44 jurisdiction, the following travel pay provisions apply:

All employees will be compensated based on the Cuyahoga County center point address.
